The marine CSEM technique was developed from academic studies back in the 1970’s to study the conductivity structure beneath the sea floor.

Most of the measurements are analyzed in the frequency domain using low frequencies below 10 Hz. A good review of the method is given by Constable and Srnka (2007) and MacGregor and Tomlinson (2014).
