Seismic applications > VSP processing

Well seismic surveying requires heavy implementation means and offers a lateral range of investigation that is limited to a few hundred meters. However, it provides a better knowledge of the velocity distribution in the sub-surface.
The vertical seismic profile ( VSP) is currently the seismic tool that is most - often used in geophysics. Its main applications are as follows:

  • Depth tying of reflection seismic data
  • Measurement of P and or S velocities
  • Identification of primary and multiple reflections

The following video shows the conventional processing sequence of a VSP.
