Source and receivers key features
The pictures show an example of HED source (EMGS) and nodal receiver (Scripps). For a nodal survey, the source dipole moment is usually around 350,000 Am in the lower harmonics (for 1500 A current injected in the dipole and a dipole length of 300m). For a towed EM streamer survey the source dipole moment is usually around 1,200,000 Am. The source transmits a coded tristate waveform, designed to optimize the frequency content for sensitivity to the target of interest.
