Seismic applications > Love Waves

A noise shot was carried out to obtain Love waves. Love waves are surface seismic waves associated with layering, characterized by horizontal motion perpendicular to the direction of propagation wit no vertical motion. The shot was recorded using 64 horizontal geophones placed perpendicularly to the axis of the shot profile. The receiver spacing was 2 m, and the sampling interval in time was 16 ms for duration of 128 time samples. The dominant wave is the Love wave which is a guided surface wave. This wave is dispersive. We propose to compute the dispersion curve of the Love Wave.
