The 2D or 3D seismic data are processed with interactive specific software’s.

An industrial software allows the geophysicists to create processing flows from a processing library which contains categories of processing steps. A processing step is done thanks to signal processing tools such as filters.

The animation shows a simple processing sequence of a 2D seismic line with an industrial software.

The processing sequence includes a deconvolution step and residual static corrections. The residual static corrections are based on computation of cross correlation functions. The deconvolution done by Spectral Whitening is a multi-banded spectral whitening method for balancing the energy of the selected frequency bands of the data. The geophysicist specifies the beginning and ending frequencies in the pass zone, the number of bands within this zone, and the length of the amplitude compensation operator. Each individual band-pass filter is a Butterworth filter. A band pass filter of the Butterworth type is a ARMA filter (product of a MA (moving average) filter by an AR (autoregressive) filter) whose characteristics are defined by the frequency limits.
