Wave separation > Vertical Seismic Profile

A vertical seismic profile ( VSP) is a seismic operation in which a seismic signal emitted at the surface is recorded by a sensor (geophone or hydrophone or both) located at various depths in the well. The source remains at the vertical of the sensor, regardless of the depth of the sensor.

We show how a wave number filter can be used to separate the down going and up going waves, which are recorded in VSP acquisition.
